A vegetation field experiment was carried out at Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2012. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the effect of amino acids on the pigments of photosynthesis in the leaves of summer barley under the conditions of moisture shortage. Summer barley was grown in carbonate rich luvisoil with deeper layers of gleyic soil (Calcari-Endohypogleyic Luvisol). Aura, a breed of common barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), was grown. Summer barley was grown under cover for 35 days. After 35 days the cover and insulation lines were removed and plants kept on growing under usual location-specific conditions for the rest of the vegetation period. Summer barley was sprayed with 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0% contents of amino acids when the moisture of the soils arable layer reached 14.5, 12.4 and 10.5%. It was determined that the effect of amino acids on content changes of chlorophyll a and b in summer barley leaves under conditions of moisture shortage depended on the moisture of soil quagmire. If the moisture of soil quagmire was 14.5% and 12.4%, the content of chlorophyll a and b 7 days after spraying was most effectively increased by amino acid solutions of 0.5–2.0%. When the moisture of soil quagmire was 10.5%, the effect of amino acids on the content of chlorophyll a and b 7 days after spraying was insignificant. Essential increase was observed when plants were sprayed with water. After covers were removed, the essential content of chlorophyll a was found in leaves of summer barley that had had 1.5 and 2.0% amino acid solutions applied when the moisture of soil quagmire was 14.5 and 12.4%; 2.0% solutions worked best when the moisture of soil quagmire was 10.5%. The content of chlorophyll b after covers were removed was essentially affected by 2.0% amino acid solutions if the moisture of soil quagmire was 14.5%. An essential effect was not observed in any other case. [...]
Kitais atvejais esminis poveikis nenustatytas. [...]
