Abstract
A preliminary genetic analysis of common dormouse was conducted on 17 samples (13 were taken from 9 different Lithuania locations and 4 samples from Latvia) collected in 2013-2014. DNA was extracted from hair using the DNeasy Tissue kit (Qiagen Inc., Valencia, CA, USA) following the manufacturer‘s instructions. In order to assess the genetic diversity of the common dormouse 5 microsatellite loci were used (Mav002, Mav005, Mav011, Mav023 and Mav028). PAAG electrophoresis results showed 41 polymorphic loci with fragment size - from 120 to 300 base pairs. Data genetic variability were evaluated using GenAlEx and MEGA 6.06 software. Neither's genetic distance between dormouse populations studied ranged from 0.291 to 1.219.
