Artists working in the media that used to be ranked as “applied art” have recently rediscovered their creative potential, the trend spearheaded in Lithuania by textile artists. Lithuanian glass artists and ceramicists try to follow their lead. The main ceramic art events are concentrated in Kaunas, the town where professional artists received skills in glass and clay work since the 1920s. The international exhibition “Spring” held in 2009 in Kaunas included artists from Sweden, Russia, Estonia and Latvia, becoming reflection of trends in ceramic arts in Lithuania and, to some extent, in the Baltics.[...].
