1. Introduction. Object of immunotechnology, technological and practical implications of immunology.
2. Immunoglobulins: types, structure and functions. Production and secretion of immunoglobulins. Basics of immunochemical interactions between antibodies and antigens. Affinity and avidity of antibodies.
3. Production of polyclonal antibodies. Preparation of antigen, immunization, adjuvants, experimental animals. Determination of antibody titer and specificity. Alternative sources of polyclonal antibodies. Purification of polyclonal antibodies.
1. Production of monoclonal antibodies, hybridoma technology, biological models, bioreactors. Monoclonal antibody purification. Chromatographic methods.
2. Genes of immunoglobulins. Recombinant antibodies development technologies. Bispecific, bifunctional antibodies. The antibody library construction and screening. Phage display. Therapeutic antibodies, human monoclonal antibodies.
3. Immunochemical methods: agglutination, immunoprecipitation, immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis.
4. Radioimmunoassay (RIA) for antibody and antigen detection, principles and modifications of method.
5. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for antibody and antigen detection, principles and modifications of method. Direct, indirect, sandwich, competitive ELISA. Typical ELISA protocols, evaluation of the results. Antibody array (chip) technology.
6. Western blot (protein immunoblot). Dot blot.
7. Immunosorbent assay for cell research. Cell ELISA. Enzyme-linked ImmunoSpot (ELISPOT).

9. Flow cytometry. Method principles, features and application areas. Cell surface and intracellular antigens determination, cell functional characteristics, proliferation, apoptosis, phagocytosis, transfection effectiveness investigation, DNA detection and other methods. Application of flow cytometry for soluble analytes determination. Flow cytometry modifications.
10. Detecting, isolation and fractionating immunocompetent cells. Stimulation of lymphocyte proliferation. Lymphocytes specificity and function determination. Immunity research in vivo.
11. Immunodiagnostics in medical laboratories. Serological HLA typing. Immunosensors - principles and applications to clinical chemistry.
12. Immunotherapy. Vaccines: types, principles of action. Immunocompetent cells (dendritic cell etc.) vaccines. Cytokines as biopharmaceuticals. Generic cytokines. Application of cytokines.

Studijų rezultatų vertinimas
Final assessment sums the assessments of written mid-term examination (20%), assessment of laboratory works (30%), and written final examination (50%).
