Type of scholarship: tuition fee waiver: 25%, 50%, 75%, 90 % or 100% for the entire study period of a full-time Bachelor´s and Master’s degree programme taught in English.

Eligibility:

  • Previous academic achievements: GPA not lower than 70%.
  • English Language Proficiency level B1-B2 (according to CEFR levels). The only exception regarding English level is for applicants, applying to Bachelor‘s degree study programme Accounting and Finance: A2 level of English proficiency is required.
  • Applicants must hold an offer (Letter of Acceptance/ Letter of Conditional Acceptance) for a full-time Bachelor´s or Master´s Degree Programme at Vytautas Magnus University.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligibility:

  • Previous academic achievements: GPA not lower than  85%, except for Ukrainian citizens (detailed requirements are provided above > For Ukrainian citizens).
  • English Language Proficiency level C1 (according to CEFR levels), except for Ukrainian citizens (detailed requirements are provided above > For Ukrainian citizens).
  • Applicants must hold an offer (Letter of Acceptance/ Letter of Conditional Acceptance) for a full-time Bachelor´s or Master´s Degree Programme at Vytautas Magnus University.

Required application documents:

  1. Copy of Letter of Acceptance or Letter of Conditional Acceptance issued by Vytautas Magnus University.
  2. Motivation letter (reasons why you should be awarded a scholarship (from 400 to 600 words)).
  3. Documents (scanned copies) certifying the results of applicants' scientific (art) production and (or) other scholarly activity, if any.
  4. ONLY for applicants of Lithuanian origin: proof of Lithuanian origin, a copy of passport or a certificate or other document proving his/her Lithuanian origin.

Application steps:

  1. Create a new account at https://epasirasymas.vdu.lt/ entering a Personal ID Number (or Passport Number for Non-European Union Citizens) and a password.
  2. Click on New Application (upper left corner of the page).
  3. Choose the application form > 2024 Scholarship Application Form for Prospective Degree Students, fill it out, attach the required documents, and submit it.

Note: once the application is reviewed by the university and is under the status “locked“, it means the application has been submitted successfully.

Dates and deadlines:

The application will be opened on  April  1st, 2024.
The selection committee will consider applications received by the following deadlines:

  • By April 20 (applications opened for all applicants)
  • By May 20 (applications opened for all applicants)
  • By June 20 (applications opened ONLY for applicants from Ukraine, EU countries, and Foreigners currently residing in Lithuania)
  • By July 20 (applications opened ONLY for applicants from Ukraine, EU countries, and Foreigners currently residing in Lithuania)

Selection process and decision:

  • Priority will be given to the students with higher than C1 English Language knowledge, higher GPA, having results of their scientific (art) production and (or) other scholarly activity as the number of scholarships is limited.
  • Selected newly accepted candidates will be informed individually via e-mail by:
    • April 30, 2024 (those applying for scholarship by April 20)
    • May 30, 2024 (those applying for scholarship by May 20)
    • July 1, 2024 (those applying for scholarship by June 20)
    • July 30, 2024 (those applying for scholarship by July 20)
    • By August 10, 2024 (those applying for scholarship by July 30)

The scholarship shall be terminated if:

  • The student has academic debt at Vytautas Magnus University. The scholarship shall be renewed after the academic debt is corrected.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania offers Lithuanian state scholarships for full-time Master's degree studies.

Funding under is provided to the citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Georgia, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Moldova, South Korea, Taiwan, Ukraine and foreigners of Lithuanian origin from non-EU and EFTA countries, 100 grants in total (monthly scholarships and grants covering the study cost).

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania offers Lithuanian state scholarships for Short-Term Studies (1-2 semesters) for candidates who are students of higher education institutions.

Scholarships for short-term studies in Lithuania are offered for candidates who are citizens of the following countries:

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania offers Lithuanian state scholarships for Lithuanian Short-Term Studies (1-2 semesters).

Scholarships are offered for candidates who are:

  • students of higher education institutions, lecturers or researchers of Lithuanian (Baltic) science centres of all countries of the world (except citizens of Russia and Belarus);
  • foreigners of Lithuanian origin from all countries of the world.

Applicants for the short-term Lithuanian studies scholarships are required to choose and design their study programme in such a way that at least 50% of the subjects are related to Lithuanian studies, which might include subjects such as Lithuanian philology, linguistics, literature, Lithuanian history, ethnology and folklore, culturology, etc.

University fee reductions may be granted be granted in an amount up to 100 per cent. There are three different types of fee reductions:

  • SOCIAL TUITION FEE REDUCTION, and this reduction may be granted to students in full-time first and second cycle studies and integrated studies:
    • who are currently in a difficult social/financial situation;
    • whose grade point average of the last semester (for first-year students – the admission score) is not less than 8 (eight).
  • TUITION FEE REDUCTION RELATED TO COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES, and this reduction may be granted to students in full-time first and second cycle studies and integrated studies (only those in their second and subsequent semesters):
    • whose grade point average of the last semester is not less than 8 (eight);
    • who were actively engaged in research, artistic, sports, civic, and social activities at the University during the last semester.
  • ACCOMMODATION FEE REDUCTION, may be granted to students in full-time first, second, and third cycle studies and integrated studies who live in the dormitories of the University, taking into account:
    • the student’s difficult social/financial situation;
    • the type of the dormitory or room in which the student lives (NOTE: Students who live in a single-occupancy dormitory room shall not be entitled to the Accommodation Fee Reduction).

University fee reductions by the means of a competitive selection process may be granted in the following order of priority to:

  • orphans, students who are no older than the age of 25 and for whom were granted custody or guardianship until adulthood or who have lost both of their parents (both of the parents have passed away);
  • students with disabilities;
  • students from families with three or more children, provided such children are minors, are studying in general education, or, being no older than the age of 25, are studying in a formal vocational training programme or at the higher education institution.

Students who are willing to apply for free exemptions, has to complete an electronic application form in Student self-service portal. How to do this?

  • log in to the VMU Student self-service portal using your personal login provided by the University;
  • select the Applications in the menu box and click on the Requests button;

select the application category Fees exemptions and compensations, click Tuition/Accommodation fee exemption by the means of competition (form F-006), complete the form, attach (upload) documents, which prove social (financial) status of the family, together with official translations to Lithuanian or English languages with the translator’s stamps attached and submit it.

If students want to apply to SOCIAL TUITION FEE REDUCTION or ACCOMMODATION FEE REDUCTION by the given the social (material) status, students must provide following documents for the competition:

  • orphans: original documents of the death certificates of your mother and father, with official translations to Lithuanian or English languages with the translator’s stamp attached;
  • students with disabilities: original document, which proves your disability with official translations to Lithuanian or English languages with the translator’s stamp attached;
  • students from the families with large number of children:
    • original certificate of family composition with official translations to Lithuanian or English languages with the translator’s stamp attached;
    • original documents / certificates from kindergartens/schools/universities and others education institutions which proves student or school pupil status with official translations to Lithuanian or English languages with the translator’s stamp attached.

If students wants to apply to TUITION FEE REDUCTION RELATED TO COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES, they must provide documents from the University units or organisations with university status that confirm their involvement in research, artistic, sports, civic, and/or social activities at the university during the last semester.

The competition for fees reduction are organised at the beginning of each semester of studies. The terms and conditions of the competition and the opening and closing dates of the competition are announced publicly on the website of the university https://vdu.lt.

Tuition fee and accommodation fees exemptions shall be awarded by taking into account all the support granted for the student by VMU, awarded scholarships, granted exemptions and (or) size of the fees paid for the University and given the support and (or) scholarships awarded from the State budget funds, private legal or natural persons.

The details of the procedure for encouragement, one-time, mobility program and other scholarships and the eligibility requirements for these scholarships can be found in the Study Regulations of the University.

Encouragement Scholarships shall be paid to the best students of full-time studies, part-time studies in academies that base their activities on sui iuris rights, in the first-cycle, second-cycle, integrated and professional study programs who are studying in state funded or state nonfunded positions, who do not have academic debts and whose number of credits of the last semester meets the minimum requirements set in the Study Regulations of the University.

One-time scholarships may be awarded to students of all study modes and cycles regardless of their tuition payment form.

Mobility program scholarship may be awarded to students coming from a higher education institution abroad to study if the scholarship payment is indicated in the cooperation agreement between the universities. Also, shall be paid to students who leave for partial studies, practice, internships, or other study related purposes to foreign institutions of higher education or other institutions.

Other scholarship. According to the procedures determined by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, students may be awarded a Special Program Scholarship from program competitive scientific research fund assets for a well-defined project or program research results and achievements in the areas of education and science.

Documents:

One-off scholarships for scientific or artistic achievements in the amount of EUR 500 (five hundred euros) are awarded to the most productive and/or the students with the highest and most significant achievements (as measured by scientific (artistic) production points) in previous calendar year in the relevant group of study fields.

The scholarship is open to candidates who have at least one scientific publication, a conference presentation, or a public presentation of their work. The scholarships are awarded based on an assessment of the scientific or artistic achievements of the previous calendar year (in the period from 1 January to 31 December) in the following relevant groups of study fields:

  • Humanities;
  • Arts;
  • Engineering Sciences and Technological Sciences;
  • Social Sciences, Law, Business and Public Management;
  • Educational Sciences;
  • Mathematical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences;
  • Agricultural Sciences.

Scholarships for scientific or artistic achievements shall be awarded separately according to the relevant groups of study fields:

  • jointly for full-time and part-time first cycle students and for first- to fourth-year students of integrated studies;
  • jointly for full-time and part-time second cycle students, students of vocational studies, and fifth-year students of integrated studies.

Students who are willing to apply for a scholarship for scientific or artistic achievements up to this year, students must submit data on their scientific, artistic, and other activities on the VMU Student Portal until March 1st under “Science” in accordance with the following procedure:

  • log in to the VMU Student self-service portal using your personal login provided by the University, select Research in the menu box, and click on the Fill button when the column opens;
  • select the category of the scientific/artistic activity you want to pursue (publications and  patents; other research and organizational activity; other research and artistic activity; significant prizes and awards) and provide all the necessary information and press the Save button.

IMPORTANT: publications and patents must be registered in the University’s Science Management System VMU CRIS, and points for publications shall be awarded according to the classification of scientific and artistic output approved by VMU.

Description of the procedure for awarding scholarships for scientific or artistic achievements at Vytautas Magnus university

Vytautas Magnus University, after cooperating with VMU Student Representative Council, grants all the scholarships and financial support from the VMU scholarship fund, consisting of encouragement scholarships fund and other funds dedicated to student support for the most promising students. They have the right to get scholarships of several types at the same time.

Types  of Scholarships:

  • Doctoral Scholarship – award and payment to third-cycle students admitted to the University funded study positions or to doctoral students from other Lithuanian or foreign scientific or educational institutions with a visiting student status.
  • The special VMU Lithuanian Language Studies Scholarship is offered to participants of Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course or persons enrolled for Lithuanian studies.
  • Scholarship funds established by sponsors of the University. By the incomes from private or legal persons, who provide funds for students’ financial support, students are provided scholarships. They are provided according to agreements with parties and if agreements have not determined the procedure of provision, than it is established together with VMU Student Representative Council.

Scholarship Award Procedures regulates the size of scholarships, distribution of funds, award and payment procedures to students of all modes and cycles of study.
