Mantas Simanavičius

Director of Student Affairs Department

Born on 18 January 1984 in Kaunas. After graduating from Petrašiūnai High School in 2003, enrolled at the VMU Faculty of Humanities. After earning the degree of a historian, he chose postgraduate Baltic Region Studies at the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy in 2007. In 2010, he started pursuing a doctoral degree in history at VMU.

Started working in VMU Student Affairs Office in 2005 as Advisor. In 2009–2011 worked as Youth Affairs Specialist in Education, Culture and Sports at Jonava District Municipality. Presently he is the Director of Student Affairs Department.

Mantas Simanavičius has worked as the head of volunteering and other organizations and governmental institutions, where he was involved in activities of strategic-level decision-making instances. He has participated in a large number of lectures, seminars and training sessions on strategic company management, and actively uses the acquired skills and knowledge in practice.

Among Mantas Simanavičius’ numerous public activities, especially notable is his work in student autonomy in 2004–2008, when he served as Vice-President, President and board member at VMU Student Representative Office, as Council member at Lithuanian Student Union, board member at Student Representative Office of Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education, and member of Campus Europae Student Representation Mantas Simanavičius provided help and support not just to students but also to youth in general: starting from 2005, he worked as board member and chairman of Kaunas youth organisation Apskritas Stalas (Round Table), member of Control Commission (later the Board) of Lithuanian Youth Organisation Council, and board member at Lithuanian International Cooperation Agency. Currently he is youth affairs board member at Kaunas City Municipality, Chairman of Jonava Youth Centre and member of Control Commission at the Lithuanian Youth Organisation Council.

Mantas Simanavičius has accummulated a wealth of experience in project preparation and implementation. The more notable projects include Kaunas City Municipality project on coordination and development of youth organisations’ activities (2008), the project by Research Council of Lithuania dedicated to the scientific historical conference for the commemoration of 600th anniversary of the Battle of Žalgiris (2010), and the project by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to the same conference and the times of Jogaila and Vytautas (2010). He has participated and read papers in many national and international conferences on youth and other affairs, as well as seminars and training sessions.
