Vida Mildažienė is professor at the faculty of Nature Sciences at Vytautas Magnus University. She received basic education in biochemistry at Vilnius University. Since 1979 she worked in the Laboratory of Biochemistry, Institute for Biomedical Research of Kaunas Medical Academy (by now – Lithuanian University of Health Sciences). In 1991 she defended the thesis for PhD degree “The quantitative investigation of the control of oxidative phosphorylation in heart mitochondria” and was appointed to the position of senior scientist. In 1997 she took up the position of associated professor at Vytautas Magnus University (courses on Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Enzymology, Membranes and Bioenergetics, Plant Biochemistry, Integral analysis). In 2001 she defended the habilitation thesis and took the position of professor at Vytautas Magnus university. Vida Mildažienė was a chairperson (2004-2010) of Lithuanian biochemical society; she directed Botanical garden of Vytautas Magnus university (2008-2015), was a member of Lithuanian Research Council (2008-2011); member of FEBS WGI group (2014-2019) and representative of Lithuania in group of FEBS Ambassador of Education (2016-until now). Recently the main research interests of have shifted from the topic of mitochondrial bioenergetics to molecular mechanisms underlying plant plasticity, adaptation and stress response. The obtained knowledge can be applied for the improvement of plant agricultural performance using ecologically friendly technologies. One of the intensively studied field in this area is plant response to seed treatment with physical stressors, such as low-temperature plasma, vacuum or electromagnetic field
