Abstract: The main objective of this study is to determine the severity of changes in some components of the water balance for the specific area in the two developing countries (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kaunas, Lithuania), in order to understand the significance of their influence and help future mitigation and adaptation activities. Soil water balance was negative in both stations in the last 20 years: quantity amount bigger in Sarajevo, but continuous longer in Kaunas
