Abstract: This paper presents evaluation of energy efficiency of biogas production from sugar beet biomass. Experimental studies showed 178,9 liters of biogas yield from one kilogram sugar beet biomass, or 725,6 l/kg from dry matter and 743,5 l/kg from dry organic matter. 52.2 % methane concentration in the biogas and energy yield of 3300 MJ/t from sugar beet biomass was determined. Energy input for sugar beet biomass production and preparation is about 376 MJ/t and for biogas generation 224 MJ/t. Ratio between sugar beet biomass energy output and the estimated input for biomass production and processing into biogas reaches 5,5
