Abstract: Chemical form of heavy metals in soil has a decisive influence on their transition into the liquid medium. The exchangeable and adsorbed fractions can be characterized as highly mobile and easily bioavailable. The third and the fourth fractions (organic matter and carbonate-bound) can be described as potentially mobile, as changes in soil acidity or intensive organic matter mineralization can lead to increased heavy metal mobility. Finally, the fifth fraction as well as residual fraction can be characterised as fully immobile -presenting heavy metal-ion mass share combined to insoluble, stable, poorly degradable compounds
