Abstract: Applying digital self-tuning PID (proportional-integral-derivative) control system for the continuous-time process or plant control, there is always an issue how to determine the proper closed-loop parameters and continuous-time sampling period. In this paper we propose the design method of such control system with on-line identification and optimization of closed-loop parameters and sampling period. The proposed design method is employed for the control of pressure plant. The results of experimental analysis show that the designed digital PID control system substantially improves the control quality of pressure plant
