Since the reopening of Vytautas Magnus University in 1989, English as a foreign language for students of I–IV levels (all specialties included) has been taught according to programmes worked out by the university lecturers. It is common knowledge that the most successful results in the teaching/learning process can be achieved only when both participants – the lecturer and the student – take part in the process. In view of this, our aim was to obtain clear understanding of what our university students expect from an English language lecture. A questionnaire was compiled to be answered by our students. The information acquired from the questionnaire was statistically systematized and its implication on the organization of a lecture was discussed.
