The author and the reader’s intellectual communication has become a part of contemporary text strategy. The meaning is explained as conveying not just one meaning but as a very important research strategy of “different ways of creating meaning”. The text aims at two goals: a dialogue with the reader and the author as well as the author’s conversation with himself. Such text personifies itself. The range of personification is wide – from the author’s ultimate feeling through the text to the author’s total breakaway. As an example of formation of this peculiar strategy might be V. Nabokov’s essay “Lectures on Russian Literature”. The essay devoted to N. Gogol’s works employs cultural signs in its strategy. Metaphysical Gogol’s individualism and existential Nabokov’s loneliness are the phenomena of the same kind. They both create in measurements just characteristic to them. Art, for Nabokov, is a divine game. Those two elements – divinity and game – are equal. In sincretic Nabokov’s world traditional words gain special light. This light discloses Russian literature and Gogol’s works in a new way. KEY WORDS: text strategies, the author’s self-expression, dialogization, cultural allusion, deconstruction, intersubjectivity, emblem, metastructure.
