Ort als Ausgangspunkt des autofiktionalen Erzahlens im Buch „Chronik meiner Strafie" von Barbara Honigmann

Abstract

This paper sheds light on the novel „Chronik meiner Strafie" by Barbara Honigmann as an example of literature where the narrative formation of a characters identity is tightly connected with a place instead of the person. The social composition of a street becomes the centrai building material of the narrator's alter ego. The historical development of her identity is equally composed of the stories about others on the street, and the reader can read the history of the narrator in her stances toward the other street inhabitants' life stages. Thus, a location can serve as one kind of a description of the character's identity.
