This thesis examines the development of a competitive professional basketball league in Kazakhstan, focusing on the interplay of economic, social, and political factors. Drawing on Michael Porter’s Diamond Model, the study explores critical elements influencing league success, such as talent acquisition, financial sustainability, infrastructure, and fan engagement. Through a comprehensive analysis of global best practices and a comparison with leading leagues like the NBA, Euroleague, and CBA, the research identifies key strategies for fostering competitive advantage. The findings highlight challenges including limited funding, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of professional coaching systems. Conversely, opportunities arise from Kazakhstan’s growing youth population, increased interest in sports, and the potential for digital engagement. By addressing logistical barriers and cultural perceptions, the study proposes actionable recommendations, such as enhanced marketing strategies, investment in grassroots programs, and public-private partnerships. The study concludes that a holistic approach, integrating local talent development with international best practices, is vital for sustainable growth. Leveraging these insights, sports organizations and policymakers can elevate basketball's prominence, contributing to national identity, economic diversification, and community development. The recommendations offer a blueprint for transforming basketball into a key driver of sports and business innovation in Kazakhstan.
